How 1 NFT can go VIRAL on the blockchain.

1.    Concept

How minting 1 single NFT can go viral on the blockchain and expand your network of web3 connections creating a fun path of interactions between colleague artists and collectors.

2.    Functionality and how users will engage with this format.

Step One : The artist mints 1 NFT ( let’s call this “Original NFT” ) and sends it to a friend.
This can be either as a gift or in a payed transaction a.k.a. ‘a sale’.

Let’s call this “Transfer Zero” to “Wallet A” ( see diagram )

Step Two : Now, the fun starts when this friend “Wallet A” transfers this “Original NFT” to another friend. Let’s call this “Transfer One” to “Wallet B” ( see diagram )

Now why would this person do that and what happens next ?

WHY ?
- For example to reveal the content of a mystery box or to receive an alternate or evolved version of the initial artwork, or just to receive a ‘participation token’ in a fun game.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT ?
- The action of “Transfer One” triggers 2 additional events. ( see diagram )

The “Original NFT” that was send from “Wallet A” to “Wallet B” triggers the following events :

·        “Wallet B” receives the “Original NFT” from “Wallet A” ( as gift or in a sale )

  • “Wallet A” receives a ghost remnant version ( herefor the artist makes sure there is an alternate artwork present that can be seen as “The Result” of as a “Participation Token” )

  • “Spawn One” ( a new token which is a copy of the “Original NFT” ) spawns into the “Artist Wallet” and so duplicates the amount of traces the initial mint can make.
This way he/she can send it to another friend and expand the chain by creating another path “Spawn One Token Path” ( see diagram )

This will continue to happen indefinitely and will only cease to expand until none of the participating wallets will make a transfer of the “ Original NFT” or “Spawn” versions.

Diagram 1

The following 2 slides are showing in detail how the “Original NFT” will multiply into new “Spawns” in the “Artist Wallet” and how these spawns can have their own “Token Path” and even generate revenue for participants.

3.    Value

This is a story of fun, growth and actively connecting with artists and collectors driven by 2 motives : the first is to receive the ‘result’ NFT and the second is either act of giving ( in case of free gifts ) or the act of creating sales in case of paying transactions.

The problems this format can solve are :

- A dead community after the hype.
- The lack of interactivity in an open edition.

- The lack of incentives to make low profit sales.

- The lack of incentives for gift forwarding.

- The lack of options to create a VIRAL PATH on the blockchain just by minting a 1/1 NFT.

Usecase.

This mechanic can be used to :

- create a free and fun connection spree among artists and collectors.

- spreading mystery boxes and dropping artwork open to active play between the users

- create entire interactive storylines

- even work as a way to generate sales and partially shared revenue

( see all expanded diagrams below )

4.    Engagement :

User engagement is guaranteed in this format since the participant who received the mystery “Original NFT” or copied versions a.k.a. “Spawn One, Two, Three, etc ...” can use social media to connect with their network and check who wants to be the next in line to receive and spread this trail of viral fun.

IMPORTANT NOTE :

For obvious reasons ( to prevent faul play ) none of the items generated in each specific mint by the artist can be send to any of the wallets previously participating in this “viral path-making game”.

Additional options :

  1. “The Result” a.k.a. “Ghost Token” or “Participation token” should be soulbound. ( fixed to the wallet )

  2. All “Spawns” can generate revenue in case of sales.

  3. Adding an inscription option along the way of the “Token Path” can be fun as well.

  4. A less complex setup can be created like a simplified open edition version ( see diagram )

Diagram 4

The following slide shows in detail how the “Original NFT” will multiply into new open edition“Spawns” in the “Artist Wallet”.

Diagram 5

5.    Summary :

The main focus for the artist here is that the wallet who receives the Original NFT or Spawn Token really will WANT to make the transfer because this will spawn a revealed "Ghost NFT" a.k.a. "The Result" / "Participation Token" / an evolved state of the initial artwork / content of mystery box / ...

Diagram 6

The following slide is just showing us a couple options for the artist on how to prepare the “Original NFT” artwork variations setup.

Diagram 7

The following slide is an example of that transferring the “Original NFT” will drop a random variation for “The Result” NFT

As you can see this format provides for many alterations in setup possibilities.
Obviously I’m open to assist in any brainstorm sessions with the team in case this format gets picked up.
